Vampire! The Dark Alleyway is a server based game started in 2002 by a man known only as Ravenblack.
In its beginning it was a simple MMORPG, where one moved from square to square doing different actions within the grid. This simple form of gameplay is still an option, and one that many take. After hitting a "biter link" your vampire is born, and is free to move from square to square, picking up items, using weapons, and biting humans.
But for others, the game evolved...
Moving within the grid is fun all on its own, but as the game got more members people with table top roleplaying backgrounds began to join. These players saw the potential to make the game much more then it was already, and roleplay within Ravenblack was born.
Roleplay in the game takes many forms. Some people play exclusively in the chat rooms hosted on Ravenblacks server. Other join Yahoo groups and make 360's for their characters to network with. Many flock to forums to play on hosted on proboards, suddenlauch, and many other host companies.
As the different players formed groups so did the characters in the game. Vampire Clans were made, headed by warlord, bloodline leaders, and those just wanted to make a difference in the city their vampire lived in. Many wars have been fought, loves lost, and great alliances forged over the years in Ravenblack City. Now there are more clans and bloodlines then one can count, looking for new members ready to learn and help their ranks grow.
A group of friends who roleplayed at different places got together and decided they wanted one place that had everything they were looking for in their gaming needs. Those that played on Yahoo wanted to have digests of the days activities sent to their emails. The chat room people still wanted the ease of just hitting enter and people seeing what they had to say instantly. People used to forums still wanted the boards they were used to.
R U L E S
1) Characters must be at least part human who is going to be turned or vampire.
2) Original Characters Only.
3) No In Character, Out of Character knowledge crossing.
4) No Powergaming.
5) No Godmoding.
